'Lumiere' explores the colour, atmosphere and luminescence of artifical light, through painting and drawing.

I employ traditional paint techniques, such as glazing, in my oil paintings, so the resulting images are richly layered with colour. In drawing, I use the sparest of materials (charcoal on paper) to create an elusive and transitory moment in black and white.

Inspired whilst travelling by pendant lamps in Venice, neon street signs of Beijing and Tokyo and glistening chandeliers in Paris. 'Lumiere' is the culmination of these experiences.
